Details of the Practice

dental_mirrorIn 1994, New Albany Family Dentistry opened its doors, and began servicing the dental needs of the Village of New Albany and several other surrounding communities.

The whole process of transforming an existing residence into a fully operational dental facility took about one year. In 1993, my dad, Joe Backiewicz, told me that he owned some property in New Albany that might be suitable to startup a dental practice. After looking at the site and the existing structure, I told him, “I’ll take it!”, and we started making plans for the conversion.

When I opened my practice, I called as many friends and relatives as I could, to see if they needed their teeth cleaned. Slowly but surely, the practice grew, and during these early years, I held two other positions as a dentist. I worked with my father and my brother, Barry, at dad’s family dental practice in Gahanna (my hometown). The other place I worked was at a pediatric dental facility in downtown Columbus, servicing the needs of mostly adult and children welfare recipients. Both of these positions were very rewarding and instrumental in developing the skills that I have today. The welfare facility was most helpful with improving my communication and dental skills with children. Working with my father and older brother was great because they’re family and were more experienced at the time. Therefore, I could always ask questions and know that I was getting an honest answer or opinion (usually more opinion than I was looking for).

As time went on, about two or three years after opening the New Albany facility, I was busy enough that I had to leave one of the other positions. I decided to continue practice in Gahanna, with my family, and forego the position that I held for almost four years in the welfare clinic. Another three years went by, and we were busy enough for me to devote all of my time to my practice in New Albany.

I would personally like to thank all of my past, preset, and any future patients for my continued success at a place and profession that I thoroughly enjoy!

Thanks,

P.S. Thanks Wrangler
